熱帯・亜熱帯の植物多様性に関する研究

熱帯・亜熱帯の植物の多様性を、進化、系統分類、集団遺伝、保全、生態など、様々な方面から研究している。特に、西表研究施設においては、マングローブ植物の保全遺伝学的研究や、海流散布植物の系統地理学的研究など、広域分布する海流散布植物の種内の遺伝多的多様性に注目して、遺伝マーカーによる多様性解析や交配実験、フィールドワークによる研究も実施している。また、マメ科植物の多様化や、根粒菌との共生特異性の進化についての研究も実施している。
